Weddings can be substantially more per gig; approximately $350 to $3,500 according to The American Disc Jockey Association.
About 90% of many mobile DJ’s work is weddings. This is easy to see when you consider that 72% of today’s brides will be using a mobile DJ as their entertainment choice. According to a survey in 2005, Weddings are pulling in $125 Billion a year at an average cost of up to $30,000 per wedding.
According to statistics found by the ADJA, 63% of all guests at a wedding will not remember what was served for dinner, but will remember the entertainment. Even more surprising, is that 80% of a weddings success is said to be dependant on the entertainment itself.
According to the St. Louis Bride & Groom, 65% of couples who went with a live band say that if they had it to do all over again they would have chosen a mobile DJ.
In 2004, the U.S. Department of Labor showed that there were 69,000 jobs held in the area of announcers for radio and television. Of these DJs, their average earnings were between $7.43 and $16.81 an hour with the lowest paid 10% being less that $6.16 and the highest paid over $27.61.
